§I — Manifesto
We are not raw material.
Every painting, every paragraph, every melody is an act of attention. It is a record of a human being deciding, again and again, what is worth making. It cannot be reduced to a vector without losing what made it matter.
The machines do not understand this. The companies behind them are not asking.
Heartpiece exists because waiting for institutions to catch up is a privilege most creators do not have. Copyright was written for a slower century. It arrives after the harm. We arrive before it.
Our work is to make extraction expensive, to make provenance permanent, and to give human authorship a place to live that the scrapers cannot reach. Cryptographic. Adversarial. Honest.
We will tell you what works. We will tell you what does not. We will publish our limits. We will not promise immunity we cannot deliver.
If you make things — by hand, by mind, by ear — you belong here.
